India called and I went.
I just completed a carve (4 photo series below) in Orissa, Konark, India. It was in conjunction with a cultural dance festival that has been held there for twenty two years. This was the first sand Festival and six international sculptors and twenty four National artists participated.
My sculpture was called Altogether Now and it was three children of different nationalities riding on a swimming water buffalo. In Hindu mythology the water buffalo stands for change and we were supposed to make a statement about Tourism and Integrating Culture in India. Also I carved a log be the water with turtles on it. There are some black holes in the sculpture and these were the daily pathways of local crabs that might have thought we were building structures for them to tunnel through.
